Nico Hulkenberg will be giving up his commitment as Team Germany's lead driver after the next A1 GP event in Durban this week's Autosport revealed. The 20-year-old has notched six victories this season to help keep Germany 25 points clear of New Zealand.
However, Hulkenburg wants to focus on his F3 Euro Series campaign with title-holders ASM. He will therefore miss the last three rounds of the winter series; Mexico City, Shanghai and Brands Hatch.
Formula BMW world champion Christian Vietoris, who has participated in rookie sessions this season, will take his place.
"It will be a big challenge for me," the 17-year-old said.
"The car is a lot of fun but now I need to train more to build my arms and neck up for the race."
Team principal of the German Team David Sears said: "Christian has done a good job in the rookie sessions and we are in the fortunate position of having two good young drivers."
