Duval excited ahead of Durban

Duval excited ahead of Durban

20 February 2007

A1 GP Team France driver Loic Duval cannot wait to get started on this weekend's Grand Prix at Durban. The Frenchman is hoping to add to his three podium finishes this season at the eighth round around the streets of South Africa's city.

"I'm just back from two GT test sessions in Okayama last week and Suzuka this week and will be landing on Thursday morning in South Africa with no idea of what to exactly expect before I walk around the track with my engineers," he said.

"Up to this point, I have only seen a print of the track's layout and the data gathered by the team last year. I always love learning a new track and I can't wait to get to grips with the first corner of this street circuit - it looks very tight. I can't wait to fight for my fourth podium of the season and hopefully match Alexandre Premat's result from last year and win on this track," he added.

France is currently third in the 2007 championship and team manager Eric Boullier will be hoping that the team can benefit from last year's victory to start challenging for the championship.

"A1 Team France are arriving in South Africa with plenty of valuable experience from last year," he said.

"Street racing is always challenging and here the first corner promises to be very exciting. Good data about the track will be a positive asset for the team. A street race is not easy to organise, but the South African authorities seem to have discovered the secret and put on a magnificent event last year," he added.
