Switzerland upbeat with grid slot

Neel Jani experienced a trouble-free final practice session on Saturday morning where A1 Team Switzerland Neel Jani finished in fourteenth position, with a consistent lap time time of 1.19.825. Later Neel Jani qualified in an excellent fourth place starting from second row for Sunday's sprint race.

Jani explains: "We worked a lot last night to understand the track as we had lost so much track time work between the red flags and the shorten sessions. After the second red-flag, I was the first out of the pit to try to get a clear lap. But it is difficult here on this street track and we have to change a few things on the car before qualifying".

A1 Team Switzerland's Neel Jani felt quite fit for the hot day's qualifying performances.
Jani placed his car in fourth position and second line during the qualifying session at Durban (South Africa), for the eighth race of the A1 GP season. The team must have done the correct set-up changes, as the Swiss driver set his personal best times in the first and third runs with an aggregate time of 2.36.240. behind A1GP Germany's Nico Hülkenberg and New Zealand's, Matt Halliday and France's Loic Duval.

Data collected today will now be analysed carefully by the team in order to improve the car's balance for tomorrow's races.

Jani commented, "I am proud to bring Team Switzerland a qualifying result in fourth place. I pushed very hard from start to finish but there was not much more I could do with all these red flags on the track. I'm pleased with the overall qualifying result. It looks like we have found the right balance on this challenging street track. Let's see tomorrow. I speak from last year's experience you can lead but not win. The long feature race will be certainly be interesting and challenging for everyone and that something good can come out of it."
