Halliday joins Champ Car test

Halliday joins Champ Car test

07 March 2007

A1 Team New Zealand driver Matt Halliday travelled to USA this week for a two-day Champ Car World Series test session. Halliday joins the Conquest Racing team at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.

The test with Conquest Racing under supervision of Team Principal, Eric Bachelart. Halliday drove for the team in the 2001 Indy Lights Championship and tested for them two years ago, making a good impression, which has resulted in his being invited back for a two-day evaluation as a prospect for the 2007 season.

The Champ Car World Series is the top circuit racing championship in North America and has been Halliday's ultimate goal as it features some of the most powerful single-seater cars in the world. The series will be held over 16 rounds throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico with rounds also scheduled in China, Australia, Holland and Belgium:

"We received late notice of the test and it's an opportunity I've been pushing hard for. This is a good championship and I'm also really excited to get the chance to work with Eric and his team again especially after coming from a recent strong A1GP race in South Africa. I'm sure we can have a good test and a good chance of securing a drive for the season" he explained.
