Oliver Jarvis gave Team Great Britain its first victory in the A1 GP series at the Mexican Grand Prix. The 23-year-old took the lead from the start and managed to hold off the impressive Jonathan Summerton of Team USA in the closing stages to win the feature race.

Team South Africa came third with Adrian Zaugg ten seconds adrift of the pair. Team Italy's Enrico Toccacelo finished fourth ahead of Alex Yoong of Team Malaysia who started the race from pole having won the sprint race previously. Yoong lost top spot at the start after a bad start allowed Jarvis and much of the rest of the field to charge past. The Malaysian then struggled to stamp his authority due to handling problems.

Jonny Reid rounded up the top six for Team New Zealand ahead of Team Portugal's Alvaro Parente, who entertained the crowd with his aggressive charge up the field. Meanwhile, Christian Vietoris came home in ninth for championship leaders Team Germany.

Salvador Duran made a great start for Team Mexico and was up to seventh after starting seventeenth. Unfortunately for the home crowd he was unable to convert his strong position into a result after he had to retire with an engine problem. Team France's Jean Karl Vernay's race was ruined after he lost his front wing on the first lap following a collision.

The result means that Team New Zealand close to within 27 points of Team Germany whilst Team Great Britain move up to third with 61 points compared to New Zealand's 74 points. Team Great Britain will face a difficult decision whether to put Robbie Kerr back in the driving seat for the next Grand Prix at Shanghai or keep Jarvis, who earned Britain its first win after 39 races and ten second places.
