Dyk to race rest of season

03 April 2007

A1 Team Australia has confirmed Ian Dyk will take the lead driver role for the remainder of the A1GP season. After his strong debut in Mexico where he finished third in the Sprint race and eighth in the Feature, Dyk will take advantage of his current rookie status to gain as much track time as possible at the Shanghai and Brands Hatch circuits.

Seat-holder Alan Jones said: "We were pretty impressed with his performance, his feed back and his whole general sort of deal at Mexico and we feel given some more mileage and timing he can only improve."

Meanwhile, Dyk hopes to add some more much-needed points to the teams World Cup standing.

"It's a brilliant opportunity now that I've got some guaranteed circuit time these next couple of rounds for me to keep pegging myself forward. There's nothing like track time, I'm looking forward now to these two amazing circuits as well. It will be a case of continuing to do as well as I can and hopefully back up the strong result I had in Mexico and improve it even. As a team we are obviously all looking for a strong finish to the end of the season. We've had an up and down year, it would be nice to finish on a high to give us some motivation to the next season with a bit of confidence and a bit of pace."
