Robbie Kerr snatched pole position at the death of qualifying for tomorrow's A1GP race in Shanghai. Team New Zealand's Jonny Reid looked set to claim top spot until Kerr's late charge confirmed that Team Great Britain will start from pole.

Kerr's final lap in the fourth and last segment undercut the Kiwi's best time by almost half a second to clinch it. Reid did however manage to secure second on the grid with Jonathan Summerton of Team USA and Germany's Nico Hulkenberg starting from the second row of the grid.

The pole is Team Great Britain's first in 25 races.

In the first segment Team USA's Jonathan Summerton set the benchmark, then New Zealand took the second segment before Kerr raised his game and topped the final two. The fastest lap so far of the weekend came in Kerr's final segment effort - a 1m34.756s.
