Reid bewildered by Kerr steal

14 April 2007

Jonny Reid lost out on pole for the A1 GP at Shanghai this weekend by a whisker. As the Kiwi crossed the line in front of the chequered flag in the final qualifying segment, pole looked like it was in the bag only for Robbie Kerr to appear in his mirrors and snatch top spot. Reid is shocked to have lost what he thought was a guaranteed pole but is content to still be on the front row of the grid.

"I'm disappointed," Reid said.

"But I can't complain with a front row start, there has been a few this season so I'll take another one. I don't know where he (GBR's Robbie Kerr) came from in setting that last lap time. I'm happy given it's my first crack at the circuit and I'm on the front row, but I'm still disappointed we couldn't nail the top spot."
