Nico Hulkenberg was delighted to claim the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport title for A1 Team Germany following a steady drive to third place in the feature race today. The German needed just seven points from this weekend's round in Shanghai for Team Germany to win the championship and his two third places afforded him more than enough to finish the job.
Hulkenberg told A1GP.com: "I said to myself that I could risk carrying on but I knew there was a higher chance of me crashing out than the move working. So I decided to take third place, take the points and take the championship.
"At the beginning of the race I really struggled a bit with the car, but my laptimes did improve and were getting better and coming a bit closer every lap. I had the same speed as New Zealand and Great Britain but after the safety car it wasn't so good balance again.
"But anyway, we might well be celebrating tonight thanks to the title."
