Team Great Britain makes history

Team Great Britain makes history

29 April 2007 / Results

Robbie Kerr dominated the sprint race at Brands Hatch to make Team Great Britain the first country in the series to ever win its home Grand Prix. The home crowd celebrated as the 27-year-old led from start to finish having started on pole.

Second was Team Germany's Nico Hulkenberg, whilst Team Italy's Enrico Toccacelo completed the top three. Loic Duval ended up fourth having been running in third before Toccacelo got past the Frenchman midway through the race. Alex Yoong was fifth for Team Malaysia ahead of Holland's Jeroen Bleekemolen. India, Ireland, USA and Canada then made up the rest of the top ten respectively.

Moreover, Matt Halliday of New Zealand failed to score any points having lost his front wing on the opening lap in a collision with Team Ireland's Richard Lyons. This means that Team Great Britain is now just eight points behind the Kiwis in the championship with 11 still available from this afternoon's feature race, starting at 15.00 GMT.
