Dyk: 'Australia set for Top Ten'

07 July 2007

Ian Dyk reckons A1 Team Australia will break into the top ten in rankings in the third season of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport. Australia has finished 13th in both seasons of A1GP held so far, and the nation also holds the record for the most number of podium finishes scored by different drivers - five. However, not one has scored a victory for the team.

But the squad confirmed last week a distinct change in driver strategy for 2007/08, with 21-year-old Ian Dyk being confirmed as the team's lead driver for all meetings.

Dyk believes such a move could help the team move into the top half of the A1GP rankings. "We've been just outside the top ten in both the championships now and absolutely every intentions of getting inside that top ten," Dyk said. "We could possibly be in the top five and it is a realistic goal for us to run in the middle of the top ten all season and try and be on the podium as often as possible. We should even be going for our first race win."
