Orr and Murray to test with Team RSA

13 August 2007

Wesleigh Orr and Marc Murray have been selected to travel to Snetterton in England to test for A1 Team South Africa in an A1GP race car on Wednesday (August 15) following a test at Phakisa Freeway in the Free State this week.

Orr (19) and Murray (20), along with Leeroy Poulter (26) and Kyle Mitchell (16), tried out in high performance open-wheel cars for the opportunity to travel to England to test the 550 bhp A1GP car and be considered for the position of rookie driver with A1 Team South Africa for the new season that starts at Zandvoort in the Netherlands on September 30.

Mike Carroll, general manager of A1 Team South Africa: "It was an extremely tough decision choosing the two drivers we will take to Snetterton to try out in the A1GP car. The performance differential at the critical point was literally less than a tenth of a second and the selection could easily have gone either way. I think it was a valuable experience for all of them and it will stand them in good stead for any future high performance single seater race driving.

"Following the test at Snetterton, we hope to make an announcement regarding A1 Team South Africa's rookie driver line-up for the upcoming third season of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport," said Carroll.
