Zaugg to return for South Africa

27 August 2007

Adrian Zaugg is to return to A1 Team South Africa, after being confirmed as one of the team's test drivers for this week's official pre-season test at Silverstone, Great Britain.

Zaugg, who was behind the wheel when the squad took its first victory in A1GP in Zandvoort last year, will be part of a two-driver team for the two-day session, along with Wesleigh Orr, the team's newly appointed rookie driver for the season.

The team's general manager, Mike Carroll, said they will be going into the session with a specific goal in mind.

'In contrast to last season where we used the official pre-season test to evaluate a number of race drivers, this time around we have decided that Adrian should focus on working together with the engineers to see if they can collectively make any competitive advances,' said Carroll.

'Wesleigh will also spend some valuable time driving in an effort to prepare himself for the role he will play for the team.'

Due to other commitments, Zaugg will not race in the season opener at Zandvoort on 30 September. The team has promised to use the second official pre-season test next month to test another driver ahead of the race.
