A1 Team Portugal is to form a technical alliance with A1 Team Great Britain this season. The team confirmed in a statement today that it would use expertise from the British squad for the 2007/08 campaign from a 'legal, logistical and technical perspective'.
The team also hope that the experience of Robbie Kerr, who has been capped 36 times for A1 Team Great Britain, will help the 22-year-old Joao Urbano, develop as a driver. Urbano was confirmed today as the team's main driver for the third season of A1GP, which begins in Zandvoort, the Netherlands on 30 September.
'We will continue to develop our best efforts in order to clinch the best possible results in this third season' said Luis Vicente, Team Principal of A1 Team Portugal. 'We consider the partnership with A1 Team Great Britain to be of the utmost importance, since they were one of the most consistent teams in terms of pace and results throughout the first two seasons. In fact, our alliance, which extends to the co-ownership of the team, is basically the full circle of a far older alliance between both nations.'
