Prost to test for A1 team France

28 August 2007

A1 Team France has confirmed its list of drivers for this week's official A1GP test session at Silverstone - with Nicolas Prost making his debut for the team. Prost is the 26-year-old son of four-time World Formula One Champion Alain Prost, and will join some more familiar faces in the French squad for the test - Nicolas Lapierre and Jean Karl Vernay.

Prost, an A1GP rookie, has been racing in Spanish Formula Three for the past two seasons, finishing fourth in the championship last year with one victory. He currently lies third in this year's campaign.

Nicolas' father, Alain, won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone five times in his career, and Nicolas will hope to put some of that family knowledge to good use in the coming days.

Lapierre was part of the championship-winning French team in 2005/06 and continued to race for the team last season. Vernay competed for the team in two events last season, with a best finish of eighth in the Sprint race in Shanghai, China.

No decision has been taken as to who will race for the team this year, with officials keen to point out that this week's test is just part of the team's pre-season preparations.
