Ireland name Firman for Zandvoort

Belmayne A1 Team Ireland has confirmed that Ralph Firman will race for the team when the 2007/08 A1GP season kicks off at Zandvoort later this month. Firman was recalled to the Irish squad after a season's absence at last month's official Silverstone test session.
The 32-year-old won 16 caps for Ireland in the 2005/06 A1GP season, and remains the only driver to finish on the podium for the team, when he finished third in the Feature race in Portugal.

Firman will now return as the team's race driver in Zandvoort on 30 September, and the move was confirmed for the event at the today's official season launch of the team in Dublin.

'I am delighted to have been invited to drive and to represent Ireland in the opening race of the season in Zandvoort,' Firman said. 'We achieved a great deal together in the opening season of A1GP when we scored a podium finish in only our third race, but it is clear from my return to the team that it has moved onto a completely new level in terms of technical capability. The team has always had the potential to win - everyone's focussed on doing just that.'

GP2 front-runner Adam Carroll, who has been testing for the team in the off-season, was present at the launch, but no mention was made as to whether he will be racing for the team this season.
