A1 Team Pakistan return to a third season of racing action in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport this weekend, as nations from around the globe head to Zandvoort Circuit Park in the Netherlands. Adam Khan will be aiming to get Pakistan's campaign off to a strong start, having demonstrated competitive pace in pres-season testing.
A1GP sees 21 nations compete in 11 rounds around the globe to win the World Cup of Motorsport. Season three again kicks off Zandvoort Park, which hosted a thrilling season opener last year in front of a 75,000 capacity crowd. Following Zandvoort, A1 Team Pakistan head to the Czech Republic before travelling to Asia, Australasia, South America, Africa and back to Europe for the season finale in May next year.
Adam Khan will take his place behind the wheel of the A1 Team Pakistan car this season, having represented Pakistan in the first year of A1GP, with a best result of fifth place at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Speaking about his role as race driver for A1 Team Pakistan, Khan said, "It's a great privilege to be asked to represent Pakistan again. I hope I can make the country proud by regularly putting the team in the points. A1GP is a great series and gives countries like Pakistan the opportunity to race against nations with a strong tradition in motorsport on a level playing field."
Asked if his time out of the car last season would compromise his performance, Khan replied, "I don't think I am at a disadvantage having taken a season away from racing. We've shown at the last two tests that we are competitive. I'm not going to talk up our chances; evidence of how competitive we are will come on track. I'm feeling very positive about the season ahead; I'm looking forward to on-track battles with some of the top teams out there. I can't wait for the season to get underway at Zandvoort."
A1 Team Pakistan seatholder Arif Husain added, " It's a great feeling to see Pakistan lining up for the third season of A1GP, ready to race against nations from around the world. The team have been pleased with the progress made in pre-season testing and hopefully we will be able to carry this positive momentum forward to Zandvoort."
