Firman reasonably happy

Firman reasonably happy

29 September 2007

Belmayne A1 Team Ireland had a positive start to the opening round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport today with Ralph Firman qualifying on the 3rd row of the grid for tomorrow's Feature Race and 4th row of the grid for the morning's Sprint race.

The day had started out overcast and rain began to fall as the practice sessions began, the team worked through a series of set up changes in preparation for the afternoons qualifying sessions. As the rain continued to fall on the 2.6 mile Dutch track the team continued to improve the set-up of the car through the four timed qualifying runs. Ralph continued the strong working relationship he has built up with Race Engineer Dan Walmsley and achieved grid positions that will make the team a strong contender for points in both of tomorrow's races.

Ralph Firman said: "I'm reasonably happy with the result today, I made a few mistakes but I'm pleased to be up at the front; we've given ourselves a chance to get some good results in both races. The team did a terrific a job and we can hopefully aim for a podium tomorrow. The conditions out there today were pretty tough; it was drying all the time so you had to guess how much grip there was. I'm confident that we'll be in good form for the races tomorrow."
