Team Mexico selects Michel Jourdain Jr. for Brno

10 October 2007

A1 Team Mexico will have Michel Jourdain in the driving seat for this weekend's A1GP races at Brno in the Czech Republic.

Jourdain Jr, who currently races in the World Touring Car Championship, has been successful in open-wheel racing cars before, winning two races in the American-based Champ Car World Series in 2003.

Jourdain has been called up because of his recent experience of the circuit, having raced at Brno in the WTCC earlier this season. 'He has the experience in single-seaters gained in the Champ Cars,' said Julio Jauregui, executive vice-president of A1 Team Mexico. 'The fact that he knows the track at Brno, where he already raced at mid-June, give us an advantage.

'We will have eighty per cent of the same personnel that worked with us at Zandvoort and we will also have the same engineer. Therefore, from the technical point of view, Michel can be confident that he will have a good car. In addition, we've also got him to participate in the rookie sessions and that will help him to get to know the car quickly. We can hope to achieve good results this weekend.
