A1 Team Germany topped this morning's rookie and developing nations practice session - however team personnel had worried faces when Christian Vietoris rolled to a halt midday through the second half.
Vietoris lapped Brno in the Czech Republic in 1m 48.841 seconds, but stopped with 20-minutes of the session remaining. However, his fastest time set earlier in the session was still just good enough for the top spot.
Just being the important word, because Joao Urbano was a mere one-thousandth of a second behind Vietoris for A1 Team Portugal, and could be a threat this weekends.
Canada's Robert Wickens was third quickest on his A1GP debut, and was fastest overall in the second part of the session. Wickens beat Australia's new boy John Martin, who finished fourth, ahead of Ireland's Adam Carroll in fifth.
The most impressive performance was perhaps Natacha Gachnang in sixth place, recording the highest classification for a female driver in A1GP history.
