Khalil Beschir has urged A1 Team Lebanon officials to give him more opportunities to race for the squad this season. Beschir attends every race weekend but has only secured 10 caps in the first 48 A1GP races held so far.
Australian-based rookie Chris Alajajian drove for the team at Zandvoort and Beschir made his 2007/08 season debut at Brno.
He finished a disappointing 20th and 21st in the Sprint and Feature races respectively in the Czech Republic. However, the 25-year-old insists that if he could just get a run of successive meetings in the car he will be able to score A1 Team Lebanon's first points soon. 'The team need to understand one thing - they need to keep just one driver in the car from race to race,' Beschir said. 'If I go now and sit out the next races it won't help. They need to understand to keep one driver in all the time.
'We are playing a catch-up game to the rest. From the first pit stop at Brno our pace was not much slower than Brazil who we work with over a race weekend, and it is just that I had lost a lot of time at the beginning of the race. I hope I can be kept in the car and have more practice because I did what I was told all weekend and I was fine.
'By the end of the season I can get points if I stay in the car. We started the weekend well on old tyres in the rookie session, my biggest problem is on new tyres when there is most of the grip. This is just down to experience.'
Beschir pointed to the improvement shown by new Indonesian driver Satrio Hermanto as to the benefits of driver continuity. 'Look at Indonesia,' he added. 'He was slower than me in [pre-season] Silverstone testing. Now he is quicker than me because he has stayed in the car. I can't be a magician. I can't come from virtually no driving in two years and score a point straight away.'
