Team GBR selects Oliver Jarvis for Malaysia

05 November 2007

Oliver Jarvis has been selected by A1 Team Great Britain to race for the squad at the next round at Sepang, Malaysia on 25 November. Jarvis beat the more experienced Robbie Kerr to the drive for the Malaysian event, even though Kerr has scored some good results at the circuit in A1GP's previous two visits. Kerr qualified fourth for the venue's two Sprint races, and secured two podium finishes from four races.

However, Jarvis' form in the opening meeting at Zandvoort appears to have given him the edge, when he dominated the Feature race.

With just six races under his belt, Jarvis is still eligible to participate in Friday morning's rookie sessions. However, it will be the last time he will be eligible for such a session, because A1GP rules state that a driver is no longer classified as a rookie when he has started more than six races.'With Robbie and Olly we've the luxury of having two extremely fast and motivated drivers on the team,' said team principal Katie Clements. 'Both have done very well for us in the opening rounds. The downside of this is we have to choose between them and it is never an easy decision. While Robbie has scored podiums for us in Malaysia in both season one and two, we thought that Olly deserved the opportunity to show what he can do round the Sepang circuit.'

Jarvis was naturally delighted to be chosen. He said: 'Sepang is an amazing track and I really enjoyed running in the rookie session there last year. I cannot wait to race the A1GP car again and my aim will definitely be to score some strong podium finishes and even another win or two. Hopefully we can leave ahead of New Zealand and South Africa in the championship standings.'
