Switzerland eyes first win of season at Sepang

20 November 2007

A1 Team Switzerland travels to Malaysia to compete in the third leg of the A1 Grand Prix Season at the Sepang International Circuit on 25 November having already earned two podiums since the start of the season and 29 points.

Rookie Rahel Frey will be in action at Sepang and become the second female driver to have participated in the Friday rookie session. "It's a fantastic opportunity to represent my country in Malaysia. I can't wait to see what I can do to help Neel Jani and A1 Team Switzerland. It's an incredible opportunity to continue the excellent work started with the team during the Silverstone tests and the chance to show my racing potential."

Race driver Neel Jani has fond memories of racing at Sepang from his two first A1 seasons when he finished on the podium: "For me Malaysia holds a lot of good memories with two successive podiums in the first year's sprint and feature races and
in the second season. However, it's not always easy at Sepang. I have some good experience of this challenging track, which I really like. It has a unique character but we must be wary of the weather conditions which can change quite unexpectedly. I'm confident that we can draw on our experience, get on the podium and fight for our first win of the season."

Max Welti, team principal, A1 Team Switzerland, "I'm pleased to be back to what I consider my home-from-home, Kuala Lumpur. Our third season in A1 Grand Prix is going well. Our car is fast and our package is competitive. So I am hopeful that we will have a good chance this weekend on the challenging Sepang track with Neel Jani and our rookie Rahel Frey."
