Faria joins Team Brazil

05 December 2007

Clemente Faria Jr will complete rookie session duties for A1 Team Brazil from Taupo onwards, the team has confirmed.

The 19-year-old tested for the team in its pre-season rookie evaluation test at Snetterton in the UK in August. However, with main driver Sergio Jimenez being eligible for the rookie sessions so far this season, the team has not needed an additional rookie driver until now.

Faria has a strong racing pedigree in junior formulae, winning the South American Formula Three championship this season. 'I am really happy to be joining the team and I am looking forward to working with everyone,' Faria said.

'This is a key step in my career and it will be very good to drive a car with this amount of power and to keep on learning. I did some good work at the test in Snetterton and now I have the opportunity to improve with the car and drive on many tracks.

'I am so pleased to be able to work with Emerson [Fittiapldi, team principal]. I am a big fan of his and I am looking forward to learning a lot from him.'

While the team has not confirmed who will be the its main driver beyond Zhuhai next weekend, the addition of Faria Jr from Taupo points to Jimenez staying on.
