A1GP is in for a great pair of races at Zhuhai this weekend - according to the driver who knows the track the best. Swiss rookie Alexandre Imperatori has regularly raced at the track in junior formula for the past three years, and won a Formula Renault race there in 2004.
Having been a keen follower of A1GP, Switzerland seat holder Max Welti called-up Imperatori last week to give main driver Neel Jani as much help on the new circuit as possible, and fulfil the team's rookie session duties on Friday morning.
Imperatori has already walked the track with Jani and the Swiss engineers, giving his advice throughout. 'There are lots of long straights and hard braking areas for hairpins and tight corners, followed by and accelerating for long straights,' Imperatori said.
'This means there are a lot of overtaking places. At such places there is such hard braking you can out brake the other guy, and it is possible to pass.
'The last corner is quite a challenge - it is the main technical part of the circuit. It is quite fast, and a bit blind. You have to watch for this. You don't really see the apex when you turn in, because it is quite a long turn and the apex is a little bit further back. You have to judge when to turn. It should provide some interesting races.'
