Kerr back for A1 Team GBR

Kerr back for A1 Team GBR

11 January 2008

Robbie Kerr is to return to race driving duties for A1 Team Great Britain at A1GP Taupo, New Zealand - but will be joined by a new rookie.

Kerr, who raced for the team at Taupo last season, has competed at just one meeting so far this campaign, finishing second in Brno's Sprint race. With the news that he will be racing in Taupo, Kerr will now reach 40 caps, only the fourth driver in A1GP history to reach that number. 'Following challenging weekends at the last two rounds, the team's main focus is to move up the points table from Taupo onwards,' said team principal Katie Clements.

'Despite the issues faced by the team last season in New Zealand, Robbie was still fast and gave a strong performance, so I'm feeling confident that we will be right in the mix again.'

Kerr will be joined in the squad by a new rookie - James Winslow. Winslow, 26, is the reigning Formula Renault V6 Champion and has also raced in Australian F3. He will undertake rookie duties for the events in Taupo and Sydney, where he has experience of the city's Eastern Creek circuit.

'It's a great honour to get the opportunity to join A1 Team GBR, particularly as I've wanted to drive in A1GP ever since the series started,' Winslow said. 'Obviously I'd like to be quickest in the rookie session, but I'll also be there in a supporting role throughout the weekend to assist the team and Robbie in any way I can.'
