Christian Vietoris reckons getting used to the careful braking required in an A1GP car is key to whether A1 Team Germany will be challenging for pole position tomorrow.
Vietoris has returned to the defending champion after two meetings out and was fourth quickest overall. He was 0.441 seconds off session pace setter, Loic Duval from A1 Team France.
The 18-year-old German believes he just has to get used to the careful braking required to drive an A1GP car to put the team at the front again. 'It was not so easy to come back after driving other cars, and the A1GP car it is quite different compared with other cars like Formula Three,' Vietoris said. 'From a braking point of view I still need to get used to it. I still have to change my braking style.
'You can't brake as hard in A1GP as you can in other cars - you have to be softer. It is a challenge.
'For sure, I just missed fourth tenths, but I reckon I lost two tenths on an up-shifting problem we had on the straight so only need to find two tenths of a second. I hope we can find that by tomorrow.'
