A1 Team USA Jonathan Summerton believes he wasn't to blame for the incident with Robbie Kerr's A1 Team Great Britain car that put the latter out of the Sprint race in Taupo, New Zealand today.
Kerr was alongside Summerton for the length of the back straight before the pair touched going into the tight Turn 12. The GBR car suffered suspension damage as a result of the incident and retired.
"We looked at the data afterwards," Summerton said. "I drove in a straight line and I braked at my normal point. He just decided he wanted my line too. You can ask many people and I think a lot of people will agree with me. It wasn't really my fault.
Summerton went on to finish seventh in the race but it became its only points of the day. The team received a 70-second penalty for making a mandatory pit stop outside the first pit stop window.
