A1 Team Great Britain has suffered a serious set back in his preparation for this Sunday's A1GP races in Sydney, Australia after its race engineer, James Goodfield, sustained a broken leg last night.
The vastly experienced Goodfield, who worked with Colin McRae in Ford's World Rally Championship team, was hit by a tyre gun hose that became disconnected when the Portuguese crew in the next door garage were practicing their pit stops on Friday night.
Goodfield is currently in hospital recovering and is set to be released later today.
Despite the problems, Robbie Kerr still managed to qualify the red, white and blue car eighth and third for tomorrow's Sprint and Feature races respectively. 'Being without your race engineer is a big disadvantage,' Kerr said. 'We make all the important decisions on how the car should be set up for the race together, but the team pulled out all the stops and now I just want to go out and get a couple of good results for them and James.
