A1 Team Germany has confirmed that Michael Ammermuller will return to race for it in Durban this weekend. Germany is the defending winner of the event, with Nico Hulkenberg winning both Sprint and Feature races last season.
Ammermuller is the team's only nominated driver for Durban, and is still eligible to compete in the rookie session, having competed in just six races.
Germany rests in fifth place in the championship standings, but is just 19 points off the lead and seat holder Willi Weber believes that the gap to leader New Zealand can be narrowed in South Africa. 'We're fully motivated as always, but even more focussed than recently and the team should find its old form again,' said Weber. 'Many small problems, including two problematical pit stops cost us valuable points in Australia. Michael Ammermuller and the team have already shown that they can win this season. Now it's all about reducing the gap to the championship leaders as quickly as possible.'
