A1 Team France's Loic Duval has successfully arrived in South Africa for this morning's free practice session after his marathon dash half-way round the world. Duval's plane landed just two hours before practice was scheduled to start today. He was driven the 16km from the airport to the street circuit before his mandatory drivers' briefing which was required before he went out on track this morning.
The 25-year-old was in Japan fulfilling a motorsport commitment he had agreed to before the season began.
The reason the team employed such an ambitious strategy was in an attempt to keep its title challenge going - Duval won his maiden race for the team last time out in Australia. The team is currently tied on points with New Zealand at the top of the A1GP championship table.
Team-mates Jonathan Cochet and Nicolas Prost drove in the two practice sessions yesterday.
