Alex Yoong will return to A1 Team Malaysia for this weekend's races in Mexico City - a circuit where he and the team were victorious last season. Yoong, A1GP's most experienced driver with 50 caps, has sat out the last two meetings while team-mate Fairuz Fauzy was preferred.
Fauzy achieved the squad's best result of the season in Durban, South Africa last month when he finished fifth in the Feature race.
However, with Yoong a known ace on the bumpy Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit thanks to his pole position and Sprint race victory in 2006/07, he has been recalled to take lead driver duties in the car. 'I'm pleased to be getting back in the Malaysian car and it's good that it's at this venue where we had our third win of last season,' Yoong said. 'I love the circuit because it's a real mix of styles.
'It flows well, there's the tight sequence of corners and the very special Peraltada, as well as the long front straight and all in a high-altitude location which adds to the physical challenge. It's one of the most exciting venues we visit.'
Aaron Lim will also return this weekend, completing rookie driver duties for the squad.
