Gutierrez joins A1 Team Mexico

A1 Team Mexico confirmed today that Esteban Gutierrez will drive for Mexico in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport in the rookie sessions, during Season Four that will have the season opener at Circuit Park Zandvoort, Netherlands on October 3 - 5.

"On behalf of A1 Team Mexico we welcome Esteban Gutierrez, who is a talented Mexican driver and recently won the European Formula BMW Championship in a great fashion," A1 Team Mexico spokeswoman, Rosa Elena Torres said.

Esteban Gutierrez commented on his new contract: "Firstly, I am very glad that A1 Team Mexico gave me the opportunity to be part of the team and represent my country worldwide in A1GP racing. This is going to be a good experience because I will learn a lot from more experienced people in the team."

He furthermore added: "I am delighted to be part of this. I am grateful to A1 Team Mexico for allowing me to be involved in this project, participating in the rookie sessions and for me it's a pleasure to join the Mexican team. It is going to be an unforgettable experience. This is something new for me with a more powerful car in comparison to the one I have been driving and I am glad to have the opportunity to drive that car to learn and try to do my best for Mexico in the A1GP series," he commented.

"I don't know the Zandvoort track yet and that is going to be interesting, because I don't know the car either. This is going to be a matter of a lot of learning and I hope I can race later (in the series) too. I think this is a difficult track and with a new car, hopefully I will be able to help the team to set up the car."
