Mexico set the surprise pace at the final moment of final practice ahead of qualifying. The lap came at the last moment when David Garza was out on new tyres.
Garza was also using the one trial lap of the new PowerBoost qualifying systems where teams get to rin PowerBoost for their choice of one of this afternoon's four flying laps in qualifying. Mexico's time was the fastest of the weekend so far, half a second ahead of anyone else.
Neel Jani was second for Switzerland ahead of France's Loic Duval, who stopped on track with a technical problem.
Netherlands, Ireland and India rounded off the top six.
