A1 Team Great Britain's new driver, Dan Clarke, wasn't concerned he was only ranked 16th of the 19 drivers in the second official practice session at Taupo Motorsport Park on his first outing in an A1GP car.

"My aim on the first day of running at Taupo was simply to get into the car and do enough laps to get back in the swing of driving a powerful single-seater," the 25-year-old told A1GP.com.
"My brain had clearly got out of practice of driving a racing car after more than a year out of the cockpit. That, combined with using a hand clutch for the first time and trying to learn the car and the circuit, made it difficult at first as there was so much to take in.
"But we are feeling really good in the team as my lap times in the final few laps were, at that time, comparable to drivers who were ultimately ranked further up the timesheets. I feel that we actually accomplished more then we expected today."
Although Clarke's best lap of 1m17.309s was 1.338 seconds off Neel Jani's best for A1 Team Switzerland in a much-interrupted session, the waving of yellow flags to warn of danger ahead scuppered several of his best laps, and so A1GP's 129th ever driver heads into Saturday with more confidence than ending up 16th out of 19 would normally give.
