Doornbos: We can still win the championship

11 April 2009

A1GP Team Netherlands driver Robert Doornbos believes his team can still with the 2008-2009 A1GP Championship. The team is 17 points down on Team Switzerland but with Jani starting from third and Doornbos from pole position the Dutchman can continue closing the gap on Sunday.

"Yes, I still think we have a chance at this championship," Robert Doornbos told A1GP.com, when pressed to the hills on the issue.

"It's the last weekend I'm available to race this season but maybe if we can covert this grid position tomorrow I can put the team in a good position to continue fighting.
"Going into the weekend we knew that the top four would be the usual top four. We just needed to be strong. It's good we are infront of them all and we have a chance of gaining points.

"We thought it was impossible to do what we did today because it's a long track and the Powerboost lap can really give you an advantage and we thoughout we'd only have one good qualifying session. But we got two.

"I went balls out for the Feature qualifying. I really want them to get the pole position for the team."
