A1 Team Ireland has stressed that it values the input during the season from Niall Quinn alongside regular racer Adam Carroll. Having taken five race victories on the journey to the title in Season 4, the team has high hopes for both of its drivers as the off-season continues.
With Quinn having been limited to Friday rookie practice sessions in Seasons 3 and 4, it was Carroll who steered the car to race success although the team is keen to put right any misconceptions. "Niall doesn't get any media coverage or publicity, he doesn't get any credit for climbing into the car on Friday morning and, more often than not, just determining what is going on with the car," team boss Mark Gallagher explained to the official A1GP website. "But he is a terrific driver, a great person, a brilliant team player and a real credit to himself for how he has conducted himself these past two years."

In the event of Carroll being unable to compete for any reason, Quinn would naturally step in as replacement but what are his chances of holding a full-time driver position with the squad in the future? "If Adam was to no longer drive for us, we would certainly want to give Niall the opportunity because he has certainly put his time in as an apprentice," Gallagher reassured.
"Mark hasn't said anything to me to suggest I would be racing but also he's said nothing to suggest I wouldn't," Quinn responded. "Every rookie is in A1GP for the chance to eventually race and I'm no different; I'm just waiting for my chance, which is why I'm happy to travel the world just for a few laps on a Friday morning! So far, it's been a bit difficult to compete against someone with the experience of Adam but time is on my side."
