A1 Grand Prix organisers have announced that pre-season testing ahead of the 2009-10 season will be staged in the same country as the first race of the new campaign. Australia will be the nation hosting the test as the series prepares for the season-opening race meeting only a short number of days later.
Monday 19 October will see the Season 5 cars hit the track for the first time as the field visits the Queensland Raceway track before heading to the Surfers Paradise street circuit for the opening rounds at the weekend.

"We always have a pre-season test and this year have decided on doing it in Australia rather than before they leave the UK," explained A1GP Chairman Tony Teixeira.
"Our operations team felt this was the way to go and so it was great to find a perfect circuit so close to Surfers; this means our cars will do even more miles on Australian turf - with us now on the 50 day countdown, the excitement is mounting for this landmark event for our series."
