Teixeira pleased to return to China

A1 Grand Prix Chairman Tony Teixeira is pleased to see China back on the race calendar as the country slots into the second slot on the schedule for Season 5. Following the season-opener in Australia, the championship will visit the Zhuhai International Circuit for the first time since 2007.

With China's race date of 15 November slotted in between Australia and Malaysia, South African Teixeira is pleased with the outcome. "This is great news as China has become an important stopover for our series," he said. "We have now been to four different circuits in the country for a total of six races and the welcome has always been warm.

"I vividly remember the Zhuhai fans in 2007; they were very enthusiastic and were especially excited to see A1 Team China on the podium. This is an important region for us both in terms of racing and economically, so it was never a question of if we would return but when."

Teixeira also expressed his happiness at the circuit's own role as race promoter for this season. "This is very good news for us as we already had a strong relationship after our first visit," he explained. "The fact the track has taken on this role also shows its belief in the series."
